Lare, I am humbled by your comments! I only have a few poems that I feel are ready for others to read, and they are pretty much all here on this site, but I have been writing up a storm lately, so who knows? This one is probably my very best, and it comes from a line in the book To Kill a Mockingbird: Miss Maudie explained to Scout that 'mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird' (96) .
