The Measured Heart
Be a Good Samaritan, lend your gentle hand,
Lift the weary traveler who stumbles on the sand.
But guard a portion of your strength within,
For life may test you when no help steps in.
These are the truths the years will weave,
A balance between the give and receive.
Too much poured out leaves your cup dry,
And kindness fades if the well runs shy.
It is not always the fish we place in a bowl,
But the art of fishing that nourishes the soul.
Teach the net, the tide, the patient wait,
So hunger ends, and hope grows great.
Give with wisdom, with boundaries clear,
Hold some for the storms when they draw near.
For love is richest, and blessings thrive,
When both giver and seeker keep the flame alive.
