Sometimes we are over-complicating our pursuit of the basics of happiness. We are possibly overlooking what we already have and missing out on happiness in the process. Having a “Mansion” with tons of gold hanging in the chandeliers and lots of silver embedded in the kitchen wares is far from making us happy.

Rose Marie, the last stanza says it all. There is a billionaire from Australia in his forties. Inherited wealth. Has everything but at the present time he is suffering deep depression. Material wealth is comforting to a point. We live in our minds not in grand houses.++10

How true. How true. A very pleasant poem to read and an eye opener for those only thinking about money and luxury. If the heart and soul are not complete? theres no gold in the world that can complete it.

The contentment is the only key to happiness! You have brilliantly depicted the concept in this beautiful poem! I live in a house/So old and tiny/Devoid of gadgets/And fancy furniture/Yet, I am/Absolutely happy....I love reading your poems Rose! The lucidity of expression is the core component of your poetry! Keep it up!

Yes! ! But in her heart she felt like homeless. The truth is better than silver and gold! She needs the truth to bring her wisdom! ! Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
