The Magpies Are Massing After Dark Poem by Alan Sandham

The Magpies Are Massing After Dark

The magpies are massing after dark:
I think they mean to take the Park
And banish other birds,
Who seem clearly down by at least two-thirds;
So what they plan for me -
I do not long to see.

No warning here could be more clear,
Nor cries, nor caws are insincere,
Dogs and humans - keep you clear!

Grabbing more than their fair share,
With not a spark of kindness there,
Seeing the sharpness in their eyes,
This cruelty is no surprise:
Careless of both fur and feather,
They execute their foul endeavour.

Dog walkers - hear my warning shout!
It is not enough to stand and pout!
None of us must be kept out!
