The Luzon Tremor Poem by Bernard F. Asuncion

The Luzon Tremor

The nineteen ninety earthquake
Struck the island of Luzon;
The impact brought pain and ache
To people in the region.

It was seven point seven
Estimated magnitude;
The scorching sun in heaven
Did watch the nature's bad mood.

It was a violent nine
Maximum intensity;
The split, rift, and the fault line
Caused country's calamity.

It produced more than hundred
Kilometers ground rupture;
Leaving many people dead,
Having others to injure.

The earthquake's epicenter
Was near the town of Rizal;
The natural disaster
Was horrible and lethal.

The main road was just shut down
Due to landslides and debris;
The access routes to the town
Were the same with thecity.

Pedrito Dy was alive,
Fourteen days after the quake;
He and others did survive
Through rainwater they did take.

At that time, two-week ordeal
Was cited as world record
For entombment without meal
Under rubble so untoward.
