Are the Broken

Always unconsciously
Attracted to the broken
Anywhere

I was once asked

Is it simply a
God-given token

To find
Old worn emotional gates

Which must be willingly
Reopened and walked through

To help others endure
New or old
Demons

Which
Must be conquered

For a new lover's
Or friends
Salvation or redemption

Before they die

They persisted with their questions

Is it how
they'll find
Strength

Through
Late night prayers

To eventually rise
Above all the labyrinths of self imposed lies

Is that why the broken
Just love the broken

I answered

Behind all those silent lines
Hiding behind so many well worn masks

Those that seem to know each other in the bustling crowds
Wherever they are

Maybe always hear
The same tragic love poem of the Broken

Called Emotional Pain
