The Lord, And His Selfless Ideal Poem by james watkin

The Lord, And His Selfless Ideal

I cannot reach this people.
Love, who came on a donkey
Is too simple to believe.
It is too homely

To hail with palm leaf beyond
What should be its fortress-line
In temple wall; nay, deeper;
Hope's moat; of heart-design.

I cant rouse them. No, not with
A sweet nook for to revive
That makes do for a Heaven
Of an incentive.
