I have the original poem cut from the Bingley Guardian in 1949 and sent to my mum in Australia with another poem called “Tis Breakfast Time”. also written by Ernest. The poem was written by my grandfather Ernest Feetam. This may interest you as it is a beautiful poem
This poem was written by my maternal grandmother's cousin's husband. His name was Harold Clough. It's a most beautiful poem which was recited to me by my grandmother from an early age and I'm proud to be related to the poet.

Very commanding in it's approach John and filled with well chosen metaphor, the end verse especially strong, reminding us all that the loom will one day be silent for each one of us. Thank you for this posting. greetings from Fay.
Is this anonymous, or written by Wojja Fink? Hilary (below) says it was written by Ernest Feetam. Lorraine (below) says it was written by Harold Clough. Subroto (below) seems to accept that it was written by Wojja. Poetseers.org shows 'Author Unknown'. C'mon, people! Have some standards.
