The Longing (Kit Ludlow) Poem by Kit Ludlow

The Longing (Kit Ludlow)

The universe defined by millennial strains,
The flesh, the stardust matter shaped for mortal stock-
The supernova of your love flows through my veins.
A forking of lightning, an electric heart shock,
The tidal rise and fall, the moonlight ebb and flow...
The breath - coursed through your lungs, your bloody waterways,
Inhaled in a kiss- breathes life into all I know
And pulses into a rhythm that times my days.
So much of you lives in me and me inside you.
The force of reality shapes the gravity,
The tug and pull, the cosmic weight of all we do,
But cannot pin down our shared spirituality.
Words fail to paint out the imagery of our scene,
What the bards of old sang in "How I long for thee! ".
