The Longing Poem by Subarna Chakraborty

The Longing

When I feel the urge to call,
Looking at the cosmos above,
The gold inside my eyes melts,
As I don't know your name,
So I don't know whom to call.

I stared at my dog right after that.
He seemed unfamiliar for five seconds
As I was lost in the cosmos.
His graceful gaze restored me then;
It reminded me I was lost
Somewhere between you and the cosmos.

Then I saw someone crossing the road.
I thought it could be you,
Coming back home
After a long departure.
But those eyes weren't longing for me,
Those legs didn't rush toward me.
I need more and more patience
Before I can reach your arms.
