Cont......Your poem describes an incident in which a man, in all his folly, was unable to read and understand what lady expected at the time from him. I'm sure you've had firsthand experience with it or have seen it up close. Such a wonderful flow with apt ending.

You made a reader want to punch that foolish man, my friend. So powerfully delivered. Very touching too.

In her eyes did you see the long lavender look of goodbye? Or did you just hear the sound of wet tires whispering farewell to the rain-swept street? -----What a beauty is this poem!

The title of the poem attracts me to go through the poem. It is really a superb poem so touchingly delineated. I feel most impressive lines are....Foolish man how did you not see in her fine eyes the long lavender look of goodbye? Thanks for sharing.

Susan, I just read again this poem and appreciated again its vivid imagery. I read your response as well from my first reading of it in which you refer to the sound of lavender. Related you might enjoy (I hope) my poem On My Education as a Poet: The Sound of Language which I posted about four months after you posted this one. Comfort, comfort to your heart, Susan, and a good new year. -Glen

Poignant rendition set aside for insightful contemplation. A witty reflection on the whimsical and temperamental nature of love. Brilliant poem, clear and focused. May The Almighty God continue to elevate your poetic ideas. Kudos Susan!
