The Long Days In My Past I Have Spent Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Long Days In My Past I Have Spent

The long days in my past I have spent
languishing over mundane ideas and dreams;
they left me worn out,
unable to visit divine ideas and dreams.

Now, a secret call
stirs in my heart of hearts:
Come unto me! Come unto me!
An intense urge surges within me
to look forward,
into the light of my true self.

I feel only a few around me share this divine desire.
I feel alone, others happy and busy with the undivine.
It is a great blessing that I don't get along with the evil.
My divine dream will come true,
though I'm unable to awaken yet.

I fix my exploring eyes on my true self,
hearing the divine speech,
holding on to every word,
believing it will truly give me insight.
But deeper looks with unwavering eyes are still required.

Sometime, I will find my true self;
I will dance as I witness it.
I continually hear the melodious music
that the divine band is playing.

When I was younger, busy with earthly love,
I never thought I would find my true self.
A divine future is set out for me,
and the price is never too much.
