The Lonely Teen Poem by Nancy Crossman

The Lonely Teen

She has all the answers
and time stretches before her like an eternity...
her own truths resonate loudly within her mind
drowning out all whispers of reason

She's aware of herself, her ego's intact
but her traitorous body is becoming a stranger...
she's morphing into a woman
and the rules are changing fast

She's desperately trying to find herself...
the woman she's destined to be
but the child within fights her
every step of the way

She's caught in a vortex of confusion
where no one understands her plight...
she's a woman-child tangled in an emotional web
and she never knows which way to turn

The lonely teen is isolated within herself...
and her penchant for the dramatic leaves her
in an inhospitable wasteland...
with no connection to reality

Sometimes we read these things because we know we can relate to these things in our heads but are unwilling to admit them to ourselves.
