Your beautiful poem reminds me that I noticed one of the most amazing leaf changes this past Fall was by a poison sumac tree (it pays to know your plant species!) . Leaves were red on top, bright yellow beneath, and/or still green.. Vivid. It leans out of a swamp right to the grassy edge of a soccer field of a nearby school. I hope no kiddies tried to collect them for class! Ouch! -chuck
