The Little Voice That Woke Him Up Poem by Richard Jarboe

The Little Voice That Woke Him Up

Stuck between a rock and a hard place, the Savior was looking stiff. Then came a little voice in a whisper that woke Him up.

Wake up, wake up, Jesus,
Why do you lie so still?
Yesterday they made you a mountain,
Killing you on Calvary Hill.

Wake up, wake up, Jesus,
Why do you lie so still?
You are the beacon to your Father,
You are your Father's will.

There is no tomb to hold you,
You are no mortal man,
And remember what Mary said,
About the Master's Plan.

Wake up, wake up, Jesus,
Why do you lie so still?
All mankind awaits your return,
And truth makes fire burn.

Wake up, wake up, Jesus,
The weight of the cross is gone,
Death has no hold on you,
And it's time for you to move on.

We see the sun set in the west,
We see it rise again,
And you're more that the sun: you ARE the son,
Of God in your tomb at rest.

Wake up, wake up, Jesus,
It's time to get in gear,
Aha! There's a twitch in your eye,
I knew you could do it. Let's fly.
