The Little Creature, Man Poem by james watkin

The Little Creature, Man

1/

The little creature, man, is no more
Than the littlest creature.
Only mountains and gods, in their imperious gaze
Hold us so feebly, and upon all fours.
Holding back avalanche for whom implores;
Thunderclap for whom prays.

2/

Earth-throned, with smirk alluded.
Life's prince, who looks down
On each small thing; who'd frown
To be included!
