The Light Of Poetry

The Light of Poetry
A Prose Poem by Rasheed Sandeelvi

These words—
They are not mere stains of ink.
They are clay kneaded with blood,
Prayers inscribed on the forehead of time,
Echoing through the centuries.

Sometimes, these words
Turn soft and cool,
Like the moon hidden behind a cloud.
And sometimes,
They ignite like a volcano,
A spark of revolution.

Poetry is free from the confines of borders.
It cannot be chained by languages.
It is a melody that rises from the heart
And finds a home in every soul.

At times, it hides in a lover's sigh.
At times, it becomes the cry of the oppressed.
At times, it sparkles in a child's laughter.
And at times, it breathes in a mother's prayer.

These words—
They are the definition of our pain,
The reflection of our joys,
The echo of the past, and the hope of the future.

Today is dedicated to these words—
Words that descend as light into darkness,
That live on for centuries,
That remind us what it means to be human.
