This poem is well worth reading, every verse or two comes some detail of life and trade that's not mentioned anywhere else in the literature of that time. If anyone does try to turn this into 'modern English" , they must take care to leave much of it untouched, with minimal replacement by newer words. Like Chaucer, only " light editing" is needed.
