See my face, see my fear
knowing death is very near.
I'm but a child without defense,
this evil world makes no more sense
At 14 years my life should be
filled with love and gaiety,
but through my eyes I have to see
such Godforsaken misery
When human kindness disappears
and all that's left is pain and tears,
when conscience has a home no more
and cruelty rules in times of war
Then man is lost and all is gone.
For me I'll never see the dawn,
no longer watch humanity
destroy the children just like me.
Are there no lessons to be learned?
Is no one just a bit concerned?
That now in peace we still forget
that mankind isn't quite there yet
We see a stranger not like us,
in arrogance we make no fuss
when treated with such disregard
our answer is to beat them hard
Each single life is worth the same
Our difference never is not to blame
We grew together from one seed
Should come together intimes of need
The lessons we can learn we must.
No matter who - we must be just.
Let's never be like this again
Or else my death will be in vain.
Lodigiana your poem is so powerfully written and also a time capsule. Containing a lesson for all to learn from and not to ignore but to always remember and adhere to. It must be tough on you to write a poem of this emotionally varied content. I wish you well and I choose never to forget this poor young girl and all those who were obscenely cheated of their lives.
I know of this and many more and it gets me every time. The horrors inflicted on innocents by the inhumane, the evil. And the photo is the colourised version to mark the 75th anniversary of Czeslawa Kwoka's death/murder. So we don't dare forget. And Lodigiana like you say she was a Catholic and not Jewish. A genocide of that time and a genocide of future generations that could have been.
Heartfelt poem and photograph, I see a spark in those eyes and fear in the corner of the eyes, I don't know why this happened and which devil's ploy devised it, I an deeply moved by the poem and the picture, I am at loss of words to express my deepest anguish on such inhumane act. A very profound poem.10****
We arrange war but for what? to save our country? to protect our country inhabitants? to kill others as beast? though innocent they are! to declare our soldiers Patriotic, brave heart? We do not know! We did war and now we discuss to do war where no humanity is existed, no lessons of universal unity is existed, no worldwide brotherhood, philanthropy is existed so why we arrange war, no, still no one knows!
Great poem all round. Truth hurts. Its a pity life is wasted so.
