The Legend Of Krishna Avatara

The Legend Of Krishna Avatara

demon Kamsa, all knew, was, wicked
whose greed for, King's throne, was naked

he jailed his father, the king, through a coup d'etat,
then proclaimed: 'Mathura now under my diktat '

Kamsa ruled Mathura, with an iron fist
citizens' welfare, absent, from his bucket list

to loyal demons, his wish was command;
accepting fate, people, threw up hands

Kamsa's one weakness was Devaki, his sister;
he pampered her, even if she didn't pester.

she wished to wed Vasudeva, his cousin
Kamsa said: ' go ahead;I see, no sin '

while Kamsa was in the wedding midst,
the happy tale, saw an ominous twist:

' by Devaki's eighth child, Kamsa will be slayed '
a gauntlet, thrown at him, as the stars played!

Kamsa's sibling love, gave way to hatred
to the just-wed couple, that was a dread

' you two will spend your life-time in jail;
your every child, will be killed, without fail '

thus six of their just-born kids had to die
no wonder Kamsa's vile was sky-high

when Devaki conceived the seventh time
the alarmed couple planned, to stop more crime

the child grew up safe, in a surrogate womb
beyond busybodies, with fine-tooth combs

this was Balarama, Krishna's sibling
on his valour and values, we shall later sing

the next child, as soon as Devaki, gave birth
help to take out, in stealth, there was no dearth

this was, Kamsa's future bete noire;
Krishna should grow and get set for war

in a daring mission, to Gokul, child was taken
and exchanged, before Kamsa could awaken

next day Kamsa came to check on the new born
whose life, he plucked, with disdain, like a thorn

before death, the child gave Kamsa a warning:
' Krishna is in Gokul, with desire to kill you, burning '

with this warning, Kamsa was incensed
he ordered: ' to every day-old child, the death sentence '

this gory task done, Krishna nowhere was found
shadow of death, chased Kamsa, like a hound

the divine brothers, were growing up
Kamsa could neither sleep nor sup

Kamsa implored, the siblings, to visit his court
the fearless two, entered the fort;

a huge elephant was braced to attack
whom the brothers sent to heaven, packed

other demons followed the jumbo
to the brothers they looked like dumbos

they were all killed and felled in a heap
now into Kamsa, the brothers could peep

Krishna grabbed Kamsa's hair and threw.him on the ground
the demon died, to the joy of all around

Kamsa's father was re-crowned as, people's.king
paeans on Krishna, it was fine, to sing
