Those were the nights the dark crimson nights when crimson reigned and rained supreme and cast dark shadows across a toxic romance

Amazing verse, Susan. I think there is much more than a 'toxic romance' here. This plumbs the depths of evil. Very dark- dark red- and to myfaouvrites. A perfect 10.

Domestic Violence is the most insidious type of violence, when it comes from the arms of someone who is suppose to love and cherish you, not pulverize or atomize you. The worse thing is the reaction of some people, where its either ignored or worse trivialized. The toxic romance is a plague of indifference.

You and I see it alike in that the betrayal of love and tenderness makes it so much harder to bear than a stranger's attack... though the spouse has indeed turned into a stranger

The abuse of serial offenders stands before those who do nothing constructive. A excellent poem that does something positive to expose these criminals. Thank you Susan for your beautful comments.

Thank you for reading and thinking about abuse and how often we miss the signs or blame the victim for not getting free

A disturbing sign of the times we live in where people either become afraid to be involved or simply don't care. A disturbing write, yet important to put poems out there to hopefully encourage people to address these or even to simply look within at oneself 's attitude or ethics.

Simone- -I agree with you. We are getting too accustomed to violence. There is just too much of it. We even accept it as entertainment in movies. tv shows, talk shows, books...- -our hearts are growing tough skins. Thank you for reader, Simone

Violence and abuse are no more singular incidents..... they have become the order of the day! Even if the victim screams and shouts for help, no one comes to rescue! As a result, nights are turned scary and and existence itself becomes miserable. Toxic romance and crimson nights seem to suggest forced sexual violence and scarred inside.

You are correct- toxic romance and crimson nights is about sexual violence and betrayal of love. And beyond that, there really is too much violence going on unreported and being accepted as part of life. It is scary to stand up to it but what else is going to put an end to it? Thank you, Valsa!

Compassion doesn't spring from the heart, it is just an unfeeling outward show. I don't know what the poet has in mind. But this is my assumption....! If I am wrong, kindly make it clear.

When compassion is defined as just a person who hears a crime being committed but doesn't act - -who just sits there listening- - then anything that person does or says later is just so much self-serving self-centered gossip in my angry opinion..I'm sorry that didn't come out loud and clear- -writer's fault, not the reader's fault. Thank you for letting me see it was not as clear as I wished. You're a good reader and sounding board!
