it's a sarcastic poetic little expression on the world Leaders- I think
Wanna be a leader? Yeah! Everyone wanna be a leader! but for what? to be seated on the THRONE! ! ! to rule as barbaric alone! ! ! or to serve everything as like the servant! ! !
Leadership is not everybody's cuppatea! Loved the humour. Congratulations on your poem's selection as the 'Modern Poem of the Day'!
This is a marvelous little piece of writing. So, you must have been out on the playground with a group of second or third graders when you got the inspiration for this. Thanks, Roger.
Too silly to be poem of the day, I don’t blame writer but poemhunter, he has much better poems than this one, of corse I write silly poems too but would be embarrassed if they were posted
The last verse of this short poem makes me think of the line " Be careful what you wish for" if I read this poem correctly.
Can I be the leader? Can I? I can? Promise? Promise? very fine. tony
Can I be the leader? Can I? I can? Promise? Promise? gaining confidence by repeating. tony
Quite a subtle poem even though it is brief. In part I see it as a satire about leadership- so many people want to be leaders, like the speaker. Once he is made leader, though, he is insecure and indecisive. I like this.
I once saw a poster with this poem on it. (as well as a little person on a ladder perhaps?) Any idea where I can find it again.
Take inspiration from present day politicians and be one among them. Nice poem.
Can I? I can? Promise? Promise? Yippee I'm the leader I'm the leader presenting a problem. tony
