The King And The Beggar Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

The King And The Beggar

Rating: 5.0

The king always had delicacies for his supper
And never forgot to finish it up with precious wine
The beggar mostly survived on a coarse meal
But was blessed with a sleep so divine.

He always dreamt that he had become a king,
And it was a silly dream that each night he had
The king, on the contrary, dreamt of losing his kingdom
And often felt dejected and sad.

Now tell me, friends, who were truly blessed of the two?
The king, who dreaded sleep and often remained awake,
Or was it the beggar, who looked forward to his sleep?
I know you have the answer, and was it hard to calculate?

Thanks for reading the poem and for commenting. Sometimes the best thing in life could be as simple as a sound sleep. However, this will be appreciated the most by someone who suffer from sleep deprivation!
