The Journey Of The Car: Part 2 Poem by Paula Glynn

The Journey Of The Car: Part 2

The history of the car starting with Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot
Building the first steam-powered road vehicle in 1769
The French inventor taking this technology as a good sign
While the Swiss inventor François Isaac de Rivaz
Designed and constructed the first internal
Combustion-powered automobile in 1808
A design that was to change the world's fate.

Commercial cars becoming widely available to drive through town
The 20th century watching cars explode with popularity
The German inventor Carl Benz patented his Benz Patent-Motorwagen
Earning millions of pounds, a car of the top selection
The public loving his car design, their applause to resound
The car engine running smoothly with very little sound
A car still here today, a collector's car for their vintage collection.

The 1901 Oldsmobile Curved Dash, sold for a lot of cash
The 1908 Ford Model T, being both American cars
Widely considered the first mass-produced by public command
Throughout the years, cars easy to steer
And the car technology is clear: especially in China and India
21st car usage has rapidly increased, car sales not ceased
Also in other newly industrialised countries where work is in demand.
