The chambers of my heart are broken
I have left a thousand sorrows unspoken
only a few have surfaced throughout time
I tried to seal them into lines of rhyme
yet before the ink could set
and before I could forget
the ink upon the paper rose
and with what sorcery no one knows
the ink before me laughed and danced
my eyes and mind beguiled! entranced
round round the words they go
the letters swayed to and fro
and cunningly upon my arm they crept
and in frightful fear I backwards lept
I screamed and tempted to escape
yet no sound was made to a mouth agape
and the words of ink were poured back inside
my fingers, eyes and mind were ebony dyed
now back in my mind they laugh and dance
at the slightest peace I am given no chance
Now with what little power I command
I bid my legs firm to once more stand
I burned the paper and I broke the pen
and I swore to never write again
I lay there in a now sudden quiet
unnerving the rage of the previous riot
I stood in silence not a sound was made
I thank the Heavens and knelt and prayed
and as I lifted these eyes to the Heaven above
I remembered the sorrow of unrequited love
Rage once more took command
and used my bleeding finger as a pen in hand
against the paper white as snow
I burned within it verse row by row
The ink from the edges of the paper fell
I am cursed to a poetic Hell
Yet the last drop of ink ended the rhyme
relieved I cried 'this is the last time'
and watched it bleed and dry
as my heart wept the tears I could not cry
I sighed and looked upon the page with relief
and in that moment was rekindled my grief
as I peered upon the inky black
and saw the sinister letters looking back
They held me to hear what they had to say

'Your sorrows are here to stay
May you forever never forget
that upon paper we can never be set
We are your sorrows unspoken
We cannot be contained in a heart so broken'
