The Indian Monitor Lizard Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Indian Monitor Lizard

I saw it for the first when the muddy drain was being dug
And again saw I at a village bus stop running for shelter
An awkward, bizarre creature of the dinosaur group,
Just like a crocodile, but not so dangerous
Though the hearsay holds superstitiously
And at last found a juvenile, so pattered and colourful
Taking it to be a species but it was not,
A baby lizard monitor which but sometimes w appear they on
And we come across by chance,
Almost a zoo thing
Reminding us of dinosaurs and their fossils and eggs,
Rhinos, crocodiles, vultures and so on.
