Hi Nathan of Oregon from Daniel of Minnesota (we both carry names of Hebrew prophets) You must have clicked on MORNING IN THE TAVERN just moments after I posted it, I was still typing its companion poems. I clicked on your SIDURI poem immediately upon seeing it, because the GILGAMESH epic is one of my essential companions.
Your poem finds a contemporary embodiment of the ancient beer brewer of the gods, but I don't think the Siduri of the epic would get drunk! If I'm reading this right, the 2nd stanza says you're finding parallels for other characters as well in the tavern clientele. If the myths don't live inside of us (They do!) , then they are dead. Have you found a candidate for Gilgamesh himself? How about the serpent that consumes the Flower of Life?
