The 'i' Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

The 'i'

The 'i'

The 'i' in my poetry stems from the eye
What i see in my day to day living
Giving the false impression of not giving
Others a chance
That my life is a solo dance
That it is all about me
All about 'i'

I am not saying i am not there
Let's be fair
I am outnumbered one to eight billion
Counting the number of people
And this is a trickle
If i were to compare with everything under the sun
And infinity if i included the universe just for fun

Forgive me if you find my poems only about me
About 'i'
I won't lie
Most of what i write is about my experiences
Excuse me
Where i fault myself is when i write as if i exist alone
I have to atone

I have to write from a different perspective
Be reflective
Give voice to the voiceless
Even the noiseless
The rocks and all things inanimate
Not only primates
Finding a voice in me
In 'i'
