The Human Spirit On Vacation Poem by Long Tooth

The Human Spirit On Vacation

Does spirit know when humans sleep
That immortality awaits,
In Disneyland of human dreams?
Could this be how our spirit schemes?
Confused by problems of our day,
It reels between nightmare and play.

If so, does spirit ever stop,
Or does it find vacation spot
Where it can find a moment's rest,
Put its feet up, a pleasured guest?
Perhaps before our dreams intrude
A space exists where life's not rude.

But this I swear, it is God's art
That keeps our bricks and mortar whole!
The life and death we're stuck between
Are constructs just like Halloween,
Our consciousness, our soul our boat,
God's spirit, soul on which we float.
