Selfishness orinates from the survival instinct that is planted in every living being by nature. Consider a virus or bacterium entering the human body and uses the host's resources to survive and multiply itself.. causes diseases and may unltimately destroy it..
3) But, man is an animal who thinks. As you write, man needs to shun selfishness. He can and should sacrifice his growth at the expense of others, should stay away from selfishness, for selfishness is a vulgar trait. And it can give way to greed…and sure, greed causes destruction
