Treading the highways and byways seemingly without a care
Walking about the streets alone nobody knows you're there

Absolutely true. A poor may be poor by kind but may be much much above by virtue. Actually it's a shame of the society to have the poor. Either they could not be educated or could be carried along in the main stream. It's a lovely details sympathizing the poor peoplle...May we all have the same feeling for them
Your poem captures the plight of deprived ones so very vividly: Survival is a constant struggle always living life on the brink, how very true. But the tragic part is that despite so much advancement of Human race, ' They will always be a part of society...' Can't we evolve a social structure which takes care of the unfortunate ones. Moving write, makes one sit up and think.
A very touching poem Patricia! As you say God watches them too as he does a bird! Lovely poem !

they say they are the bottom of the barrel, but if you ask me I find that hard to swallow no one knows the pains that they have gone through, I 'm sure this was not the life that they chose to go thru. many could not deal with what life threw their way, so they abandoned it all and tried to run away. yet underneath the torn clothes and dirty hands, they are always there to help their fellow man.
inside that is full of grace Poem nicely describes the plight of the homeless. Asks us to look inside. Beautiful. Thank you.
This good poem is a fitting tribute to the homeless. Have a read of my Alone on the Streets.
The deprived and the marginalized also are our brethren and shouldn't be shunned! By sheer chance while some are born with silver spoons in their mouths, into the lap of comforts and riches, some others, for no fault of theirs happen to land on streets and pavements! So there is no need to feel great about ourselves or look at others with contempt! Your poem reminds us not to forget the ballads of the slums! A compassionate write!
There are too many homeless out there, and they need all the help they can get. Excellent write Patricia.
Oh! What a lovely poem! What a keen observation you've made of the Homeless, and what a wonderful poem with rhyme and rhythm to portray their ilk! GREAT!
