My heart said that I loved you
With thoughts and feelings so happy and true,
I loved you more than anything
So, in my pocket I keep the ring,
One day soon I wait to hear you say I do.
I want to see you always happy which is no lie
Never do I want to see you sad or cry,
Under the mistletoe we did kiss and sing
Unknowing to you in my pocket was the ring,
I'm so excited for a couple more weeks to pass us by.
Soon I will ask you to be my spouse with glee
Forever I want it to be just you and me,
My promise and my oath and my soul I will bring
Daily in anticipation I reach for that ring,
I'm so excited for that moment to go down on one knee.
My heart said that I loved you with God's glory
But, my ears and my eyes told me a different story,
Of us together I always saw the upswing
As in my pocket was the ring,
Then I saw us in the frog and scorpion allegory.
Your lies and your broken promises I finally noted
Stories of cheating and theft you were seen and quoted,
Then mores lies and deceptions you did bring
In my pocket now stays the ring,
You were the only one to whom I was ever devoted.
