He complained of the pain as he walked down the street
His shoes were too small, he had blisters & bruises
The next day in the park he saw a man without feet
And his life became precious, in spite of abuses
There's a man with a car and he takes it out daily
It has dents and some rust and small cracks in the block;
He says ‘it's time for the junkyard'! Then he saw his friend Bailey
Out hitchin' a ride, he was tired of walkin'
A fence has two sides, your side and the other
The other seems greener while yours is so stark
If you open the blinds and look under the cover
You'll see flowers growing that were once in the dark
Before you complain about your station in life
Take a good look at others on the outside and in
While all may seem peaceful, beware of the strife
And the problems and trouble that they may be in
Be grateful for small things received every day
And know that all others are beset with hard times
If life seems a struggle while others are playin'
Remember that muscles are built from the climb
It's easy to judge when we don't know the story
We'll just scan the outside, not under the skin
The gems and the pearls that are found in the quarry
Aren't found on the surface, they're deep down within
When you want to give up, and your cross you can't carry
Take a break, then breathe deep and start looking around
Then you'll start to feel guilty-‘cause you stroll the flat prairie
While many others get stuck in the sludge on the ground
There's always someone worse off than we are.
