The Glories Of These Skirmishes Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

The Glories Of These Skirmishes

The Glories Of These Skirmishes

Histories and her wars have made you acceptable,
You were employed as a contributor of her cause.

Weapons and guns made your self esteem more appealing and the general approval as heroes of your country,

And with a fierce adrenaline rush and yell at these monsters you challenged Death himself.

Sometimes in these solitary hills and battlegrounds when the smoke of these gunpowders and the elements have wipedclean these bodies and these killing fields have cleanedand remained mundane,

When these jungles of the skirmishes are whispering these battle memories,
And these corpses names,
We can'timagine the emulatory fates of these thousands.

In no way were the promises and the glories kept,
As the radiant sun continued shinning and these trembling wild flowers and leaves, did not baptized the glories of these encounters.
