The Girl In The Mirror Poem by Alyssa Marquardt

The Girl In The Mirror

The simple girl with complex thoughts.
Overwhelming her inside.

The girl that chooses insecurity
over pride.

Stumbling down these halls day by day,
Staring at the ground.
Ignoring every sound.

Everyone looks at her,
But she is invisible.
Everyone can hear her thoughts,
But she is set on mute.
Her hair falls over her face,
hiding the look in her eyes
that craves someone's embrace.

She turns in circles and runs through fires.
To find her next short piece of desire.
The next thing or person to make her day.
Until the time she finds someone to stay.

Watching pavements pass her by,
Like everything else,
She's running away.
From herself.

She loves the rain,
and cherishes this pain
Addicted to the rush that everyday brings.
Pretends she doesn't want to touch,
All these things her mind clings onto.

Red hoodie and baggy jeans,
hiding.
because she needs somewhere to lean.

Every inspiration that gets to her head.
Doesn't live on paper before it is dead.

She is the girl.
tripping over everything in her way.
Wondering if life is worth another day.
Never doing anything right.
Wondering if she'll ever be good enough,
in her own mind.

She is.
The girl in the mirror.

Asking for my love,
begging for my love.
Hoping I will be the one.

To accept her.
