THE GIFTED DIE YOUNG

liver cirrhosis
consumes the highly gifted
end-game, why is this?

in their prime they glow
meteor-like, a short time
take a bow, then.go

their work lifts our souls
in gratitude so.much.thrift?
payback, by thrift bowled

or too much of praise
lots of money when still young
in a state of daze?

the handy bottle
to say: ' this world is too small;
sad, that you.scuttle '

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Alcoholism leads to ailments like cancer and liver cirrhosis. When wallets are fat and friends and fans are in plenty, youngsters take to addictive drinking, subjecting their health to decline rapidly! Before they get time to blossom in life, they are snatched away, sometimes without even a warning! It is sad that we are losing many of our talented ones, especially in the film industry! A red alert to all addictive drinkers!
