The Ghost Gum Trees Poem by Ima Ryma

The Ghost Gum Trees

Albert Namatjira did love
To paint the ghost gum trees that grow
In Australia, the symbols of
The outback bush and spirit flow
From Aboriginal times old
When these first peoples held these trees
As miracle gifts to unfold
Blessings of healing purities.
His paintings showed these trees to be
Enduring and resilient
In future and in history,
In artful grace, magnificent.

The ghost gum trees with bark so white
Standing guard over sacred site.
