When it comes to writing new poems,
Its easy to write colour by numbers.
The same old repeated unoriginality,
As a complacent imagination slumbers.
For fresh inspiration look to the movies,
Choose a timeless classic so loved by all.
Maybe The Red Shoes or Forbidden Planet,
The latter to smash a writer's block wall...
Forbidden Planet has many human themes,
Richly and tightly woven in its screenplay.
Loosely based upon Shakespeare's The Tempest,
Its fresh originality still holds up to this day.
How can it ever fail to stir one's mind,
With heroism, love, jealousy and mystery.
And vast knowledge and a concealed city,
A beloved sci-fi classic in all of movie history.
Let us not forget The Monster from the Id,
And of course the incredible Robby the Robot.
All human emotions woven for a vacant writer,
To draw true inspiration from its imaginative plot.
Great poem Shaun...I thoroughly enjoyed read it. You're spot on. There are so many interesting subjects and topics out there from which we can draw inspiration...especially films. It's a Dr.Morbius/ Prospero induced 10 from me!
