The first time he said 'I love you, '
Did he know what these words did?
They sent me down a path of fear,
I sought darkness, where I safely hid

Your poem, beautify slowly, slowly, and bloom gracefully like a lovely rose. You've described love in different aspects, how it brought you pain, how it brought you pleasure and fear, altogether. At the end as you said-I love you, now etched on my heart..., love holds you in its custody. A lovely ending my friend
Progress Lora, Your poems all show steady progress. Each new poem is like a snapshot of a rose opening. There is a book that documents your life, if you have not read 'The Little Prince' please do so as soon as possible. The 'rose' in this poetic fantasy of life and love is almost your exact counterpart in my opinion. All I can see that remains for your life to be truly fulfilled is for you 'to get' that you actually deserve the love that both God and your 'Little Prince' have already given you, for you to accept the gift of God's Grace and to trust (without reservation) the love that is in fact already yours.
Your poems do not erupt from your heart, as do mine. Yours gently ooze out from the heart and keep flowing downhill like a natural stream, gathering speed as it flows and dissolving in it all that come in touch. This is a masterpiece, it dissolved me too. 'I sought darkness, where I safely hid' - Just as I did, and usually do, like as I said in one of my poems, as a timid rabbit caught by the dazzling light of the passing lorries, blinded, and desperately seeking darkness. 'Dare I enter uncharted waters... On the edge, I stood lingering' - A very clear imagery. 'But gently he led me by the hand Up starlit stairs into the light' - So nice! 'A golden door had opened for me.... There, love and I stood face to face' - My God! What a poetic expression! The last line is a perfect end to this super beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing.10/10. I am an ardent admirer of all your flower like poems.
perhaps these three words are never again as dedicated, sincere and undiluted as when spoken the first time. lovely write Lora.
Very interesting poem. It definitely brings me back in times of dark and lost days. Well written thought-provoking piece. Loved it!
