My. Word. This is a first poem? ? ? ? Soran, my friend, you showed talent with a capital T. If you had not told us, I wouldn't have thought it. I would not show my first poem to a soul- -well, maybe to someone who could not read. 10+++++++++

One of the wonderful attributes of Soran's poem is thought provoking. This attribute will sway the mind of a reader to to take a second look at his poems and ponder about the message embedded. Oftentimes as you go deeper, you will find another message worth to pondet about.

Even now when you see a cut pomegranate, the memory of bloodshed comes to your mind afresh! Through suggestions, you have said it all without waxing eloquent! A great poem! Top marks!

A poem smeared with blood drops! The very memory of the atrocity committed and blood spilled remain as a painful memory even now. You witnessed the violence in your teens when poetry was flowing through every artery and vein.

A wonderful and powerful poem that a reader needs to ponder about. I like how this great poem has been crafted. It doesn't show all what we need to know. It gives an intricate mind to delve into the depth of this write. To my Poem List and 10 ++

The mind of the youth is so vulnerable. The effects of such atrocity will be long remembered. And I salute you because the remembrance of this wicked act made you a great Poet. You harnessed your emotions and channel them to a productive avenue. Unlike other adolescents, they will apply what they remembered and make them dangerous persons and shower hate and fear to humanity.

A deeply moving and poignant write. Very touching and deep yet sad remembrance. It touched the deepest core of me. My heart goes to those youth who have remembered the atrocity committed against Halabja especially those who have resided in the said place.

well done Ruth you have remembered and mentioned very good point about the pomegranate, the memory of childhood never die, on the other hand I call the pomegranate as a poetic fruit, such as Apple, but hasn't used as much as apple, Thanks for your amazing comment Dear poet, all the best

When I was a very small child, not yet at school, my mother, as a special treat, would buy me a pomegranate to eat (when they were in season) on the long walk home from the local shops. Being so young, I didn't understand that you could only buy them at certain times of the year and would long for them all the time.

What a trauma (chemical weapons) disturbing your sensitive nature in adolescence. This poem born in such distress and fear will undoubtedly haunt your creativity. " Boy, you're goin' to carry that weight a long time." That's your poetic and personal mission. Its success, which is guaranteed by your commitment to poetry, will be redemptive.

oh yes, definitely you are right, some times the tragedy would inspire the poet more than every thing else, but the poet has to know how to use it, thanks for your reading and time, writing this wonderful comment...take care and all the best..
