Yes, memories come to our mind like embers from a fireplace and spark off like flames taking us to our past. Some are delightful memories and some painful....! A lovely comparison! Altogether the poem is a small sparkling gem!

Wow! Love it! And can easily relate to it, there's just something mesmerizing and hypnotic watching flames dancing and your thoughts are elsewhere. Indeed, we can watch for hours at the flickering flames in the fireplace, such a coziest sensations and hours and hours go by sans our notice and make our thoughts flooding back (y) our mind and heart and transport you into the past. After having read this so well captured poem, my thioughts go back to the past either, it's winter here and our fireplace is lit on each day. Your sweet and confessional poem I so admired, dear great poetess.10++

There is something about flickering flames, be they from a camp fire on a wintry night (which we had had recently a few times here at Bangalore) , or even from funeral pyres, they transport you to an unknown land, lost in thoughts, I fully go with your thoughts in this lovely piece.
