The Fight Goes On Poem by Ray Hansell

The Fight Goes On

It was on Mother's Day
Just a year ago
When the symptoms that I had
Suddenly began to show

I wasn't sure what to do
As I was in shock
The next day being Monday
I immediately called the Doc

I told her what had happened
She said, you should come in
I did as she requested
Soon all the tests would begin

Long story short they had found
What they were looking
Just how bad it was
Doctor's weren't really sure

First came surgery than treatments
To kill the invader inside of me
Six more weeks of waiting
For me to see what would be

But here I am eleven months later
The doctor said, I'm cancer free
When he spoke those magic words
Living life took on new meaning for me
