The Endless Sand Of Time Poem by John Nicolson

I dreamt I saw my life go by
As I walked the shores of Time;
Two sets of footprints on the beach,
Side by side, and one was mine.
On the Endless Sands of Time.

Beneath a dark sky where bright stars shone;
Confused I cursed, I swore!
"Whose footprints are those which are not mine
That dent this Timeless Shore? "
On the Endless Sands of Time.

And then I thought I caught a glimpse
(Of One I could not define):
Who walked upon the beach with me
On the Eternal Shores of Time.
On the Endless Sands of Time.

I saw a clock hang from the sky;
It struck my finest hour;
And honesty and truth brought love
As I walked with my Higher Power.
On the Endless Sands of Time.

And then a tide from Paradise
Came in and gently swept me;
And the fears and tears of wasted Years
Fled and bled and fell down dead;
And with outstretched arms
By a grove of palms
The Stranger did accept me.
On the Endless Sands of Time.

But yet I could not fail to see;
No I could not understand!
For in troubled times I only saw
One set of footprints upon the sand?
On the Endless Sands of Time.

And as I turned my face away
He caught my tortured frown.
For when I needed him most he did not stay,
He went and let me down!
On the Endless Sands of Time.

"My precious child, He said to me
As the clock ticked high above,
"You seek and yet you cannot see
The Power of My Love! "
On the Endless Sands of Time.

"When you were down I picked you up -
I gave you a helping hand!
Those footprints you think are yours - they're mine;
For I carried you ‘cross the Endless Sand!
On the Endless Sands of Time.

And then a tide from Paradise
Came in and gently swept in;

I knelt and did accept him.
