The Elm Tree And Termites Comments

This poem resonates with me in particular because of my long experience with termites. When my father bought a splendid house in 1950 in Warrandyte, he discovered that it was riddled with termites (white ants) and had to be pulled down. It took many pounds and several years before we were able to build a new house. Later when I was living in Kangaroo Ground with my husband and three children, our house was invaded by these tiny predators. Fortunately we were able to eradicate them without losing our house. It is amazing how much devastation such small creatures can create and yet, there is no malice in their behaviour. A great poem. love, Allie xxxx
