The Ego Poem by Shraddhanand Srivastava

The Ego

Rating: 5.0

The EGO
develops the terms with
the body the soul bears;
The EGO
with the gross growth
of limbs and
the fleeting
hues of
the countenance
just cheers;
The EGO
cherishes
I, Me and Mine
eclipses the Consciousness
of the 'SOUL'
that ever shine;
The EGO
encloses one to
fortress of the
carnal cravings
and makes one
pine for having
the servients around;
The EGO
does nothing but
to put one
in servitude bond;
The bonds:
of siblings
of filial terms
ever the transient;
The EGO
fosters firmly
the nescience
leading one to
take the ephemeral
for eternal and
to be blind to
the anguish imminent;
The EGO
with the broodings persistent
over the tenet
'THAT THOU ART' (तत् त्वमसि)
gets extinguished
and one merged
with One transcendent.
