It was a sad tale to tell but the duck was scared of the water
She would try to glide along the ripples of the river
But her wings got wet from the boggy and plant-filled water
And this meant she couldn't flap her wings into the sunny sky
And she would try and try but she didn't know why.
She wanted to soar in the sky with the sharp-eyed eagles:
Not glide along muddy waters with the other typical ducks
She would gaze up at the blue sky and always ask why
She couldn't be a bird of prey and faithfully fly?
And the other ducks left her the odd one out.
But one-day the ducks decided to help their friend fly
They had her taken out of the river and washed clean
For this duck was going to fulfill her lifelong dream
And soar the amazing skies with the other ducks
Never being landbound and trampled by wayward trucks.
As she zoomed across the blue sky with the other ducks
She felt freedom beyond the water and beyond fear
She could fly free and boundless with satisfaction
Yet every day she would return to the water
And find the feeling of being trapped gone:
She could glide with the eagles and the night owls
She could see the blue and green earth from way up high
And she didn't even have to force herself or try
And soon her confidence was evident to the other ducks
And once again they were her friends with all her wonderful luck.
