The Dreamer And The Beautiful Dream Poem by O. A.

The Dreamer And The Beautiful Dream

The Dreamer and the Beautiful Dream

For Dr. M.L.K. Jr. and all those who share his vision
Of a Multicoloured, multi-racial,
Multi-national world...

On Capital Hill
At the 'Lincoln Memorial'
You delivered the speech
Of the Century for everyone to see
For everyone to hear your poignant words
For everyone to manifest their own Dreams around yours
Of a Multicoloured, Multi-racial, Multi-national, nonviolent world;
And it is here Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Your Dream became something to learn...
Through the media you reached millions at home
And around the world, reciting the words:
'I have a Dream...'
'I have a Dream...'
'I have a Dream...'

...That Blacks and Whites can finally co-exist
That all people of the rainbow can be selfless...
That we as North Americans could do better...
To love ourselves and to protect our neighbours
From injustice and inequality...
These were some of your ideals
That you dreamed,
Of becoming real and finally a reality...
No more Apartheid,
No more clashes with Authority
'Nonviolence' was what you preached at the pulpit
And like Mohandas Ghandi you hoped we would get it...
No more segregation, all young folks attending same schools
From coloured neighbourhoods and white neighborhoods too...

If by chance you could have seen
Your 'Poor People's Campaign'
Finally come into fruition in Washington D.C.
And not been jailed in Birmingham Alabama, unlawfully...
Would you be here celebrating
The fruits of your labour in 2022?
Would there be a time for a 'Beautiful Dream'
Of yours to be realized as an achievable truth?

Or would the Legend you are, roll up his sleeves,
And stare at all of us, and then himself also too
                  The Man in the Mirror

And proclaim, that we still have work for us to do
                       Brothers & Sisters
Before this 'Beautiful Dream' becomes attainable
                              In 2022?

I'd like to think that you would be so happy to hear
About the progress we've made all the way out here
With 'Freedom of Speech' and 'Same Sex Marriages'
It may not be a perfect world, but we are conscious
In trying to emancipate the Earth for what it's worth.

But still, this world needs alot of unconditional work.
And because of you we know what we need to learn.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. May your soul rest in peace
Knowing Dreamers have caught the torch you threw
And are parading with your words around the world
Igniting bonfires of tranquility listening to your advice
That even though dark is the transformative night
There is light on the other side of the world
Shining with respect as the Sun and Moon do
In everyone's neighbourhoods, Black or White
And co-existence is the best solution
For everyone to share
A heavenly, divine spotlight
That you helped create,
With your triumphant,
Life...
