Interesting thought, to honor a bird on Mother's Day! The dove in the picture appears to me a mourning dove. There were many of those around where I grew up. I'll bet if you walked closer than three feet, she would fly away, but just let her rest there. Enjoyed the poem.
Yes it is. They are finding out that birds are smarter than anyone thought.
A very fine dedication on Mother's day! The mother dove is so committed to her duty and wants to make sure that the eggs are neatly hatched and her fledglings are sufficiently fed and well protected. Even when the male bird flies away in fear, the mother bird never deserts her eggs! It is a mother's commitment! It is so interesting to watch birds and I am sure you enjoyed this sight for several days! Beautiful poem!
