The Devil Follows Poem by Randy McClave

The Devil Follows

A sinner thinks they do not sin
Then the devil does graciously grin,
They think they have done nothing wrong
The devil then just happily tags along.
He goes with them wherever they go
Pleasures to them he does temptingly show,
Now they feel hate and also wrath
Now they are walking down the devils path.
They sin, or they lie or steal or cheat
People like them they gather and meet,
Now their souls are all owed
Now with the devil they are walking down the road.
They blame their condition always on others
Even their own fathers and/ or their mothers,
But, it's usually their own stupid fault
Behind them the devil does walk.
They have been shown and know the correct road to take
But, instead of following the lamb, they follow the snake,
The correct trails they are purposely missing
As they smile and follow the sound of the hissing.
They think that sinners they are not
They believe that because they have never been told or caught,
Whether they walk to a valley or to a hollow
The devil will always graciously follow.
They do the things that they know that they shouldn't
They say the things that others wouldn't,
Now they curse and swear instead of singing a hymn
The devil, now happily walks beside of them.
