The Depth Of Pain Poem by Bertha Jossam

The Depth Of Pain

Rating: 5.0

Everybody knows pain, a mere word with no frame,
A word without a flame.
It's funny how I've gone through the stages,
The stages of pain that no one seems to discern.

The pain of acknowledgment, like viewing a vast sea,
Realizing its power and depth in me.
Next, the hidden pain, like the cries of the deep,
Denied souls echoing, their voices asleep.

The outburst of pain, tears creating an ocean wide,
Misery's waves crashing, impossible to hide.
And numbness, the final stage, a silent tide,
Pain becoming one with the ocean, pulling me inside. to the edge of life.

The most unspoken pain, the one that feels no pain,
Now we all ask ourselves, how deep are we in the ocean's refrain?
